Alfonse Francis Ciccarelli, 80, born in Wilmington, Delaware on June 23, 1932, died peacefully on April 12, 2013 surrounded by his family.

Alfonse was the son of the late Salvatore "Sue" Ciccarelli and Mary (Bernardo) Ciccarelli. He is survived by his two sisters; Rosanna Ciccarelli Minchini and Clorinda Ciccarelli Russo and her husband, Dominick Russo. He is the beloved uncle to 9 nieces and nephews, 16 great nieces and nephews and 1 great great niece. He was predeceased by his brother in-law, Ralph Minchini Sr.

Alfonse graduated from Wilmington High School and Goldey Beacom College. He retired from the DuPont Company with over 30 years of service.

A polio survivor, Alfonse was among the first three patients of the Alfred I. Institute, presently A.I. DuPont Children’s Hospital.  Never hindered by his physical limitations, he was an avid golfer and founder of the original "BOBALU" dances at Fournier Hall. He was an active member of St. Anthony of Padua Parish, serving as President of St. Anthony’s Catholic Club, participating on the Parish Council and volunteering for many years at the St. Anthony Italian Festival. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Pius X Council.

Alfonse will be most remembered for his sense of humor and wit, and his love for his family and friends.

Family and friends may visit at St. Anthony of Padua Church on 9th and DuPont Streets, Wilmington, Delaware on Monday, April 15th from 4:30-8:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 16th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church.
