Anthony Joseph “Pic” Episcopo. Jr, age 94, a resident of Wilmington, Delaware and former resident of Boynton Beach, Florida passed away peacefully July 25, 2017 at the Forwood Manor Retirement Home.

Born in Wilmington, Delaware August 18, 1923, he worked for General Motors until his retirement. He and his loving wife Mary of 64 years then moved to Boynton Beach, Florida where he enjoyed golf and the companionship of his new friends.  He was a veteran of World War II having enlisted in the Navy and then volunteered with the 2nd Marine Division serving on the beaches of Saipan and Tinian where he cared for the wounded and dying soldiers. Subsequently, he was honorably discharged as a Pharmacist’s Mate Third Class.

His home in Wilmington was a gathering place for family members and dear friends.   Everyone looked forward to the holidays were Italian traditions were enjoyed and where all were welcome.  Especially important to him was Christmas where the food and fun abounded and memories were created for children and adults.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Mary Catherine (Seneca) Episcopo and his brothers James Episcopo and Brigadier General Leonard Episcopo.   His wife Mary was his one true love.   He enjoyed telling how he meet her at a party and said he was going to steal her from her boyfriend.   Their marriage was an inspiration to everyone. They were constant companions and friends and excitedly celebrated their 50th Wedding anniversary where Mary confided that it was bigger and grander than their wedding.

He is survived by his two sons: Ronald A. Episcopo and his husband Glenn David Jones; Michael Thomas Episcopo and his wife Geraldine Hoffman Episcopo.  Two grandchildren: Traci Linn Ostroff and Michael Anthony Episcopo and his wife Laura Episcopo.; three great grandchildren: Cameron Ostroff, Kasara Ostroff, and Carter Episcopo, as well as sisters Edith Markowski and Elizabeth DiBono, and sister-in-law Elizabeth Episcopo.

A Mass of Christiana Burial will be celebrated on Saturday July 29, at 11:00 am at St. Helena’s Catholic Church, 602 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, where friends may visit after 10:00am.  Interment will follow Mass in All-Saints Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516
