Eugene "Gene" Jehl, Jr. Obituary

Born July 3, 1943, in Wilmington, Delaware, Eugene R. Jehl, son to the late Mary Jehl and Eugene R. Jehl, Sr., left our side to return home with the Lord, on February 8th, 2018.  Gene is survived by his brother-in-law Lawrence E. Fontana, Jr. and wife Elenore, and brother-in-law William J. Fontana and wife Lisa.  He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.   Gene graduated Salesianum High School in 1961.  Shortly thereafter, he began working at the U.S. Post Office and retired with over 46 years of service.  While working at the Post Office, Gene served his country for 6 years as a member of the Army National Guard of Delaware, for which he earned an honorable discharge.  Gene frequently spent summer week-ends and vacations at his family’s beach trailer in Long Neck, DE., where he enjoyed crabbing, fishing, and clamming.  Gene’s favorite hobby was photography.  In 1979, Gene married the love of his life, Nancy E. Fontana.  Together, Nancy and Gene built a life-time of memories and followed their dream to retire in North Carolina.  Gene will be sadly missed and he will remain in our hearts forever.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the St Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, Capital Campaign Fund, 2431 Frazer Road, Newark, DE 19702, 302-834-0225.
