Joanne E. Pennington

Joanne Pennington peacefully passed away on Monday, April 3rd, 2017 at home. Joanne was born in Wilmington to the late Horace and Dolores Pennington. She was a graduate of Conrad High School. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Gavin Pennington and her niece Mallory Pennington. Joanne will be dearly missed by her loving children Shawn (Carolyn) Fleming of Bear, and Amanda Karnai, currently serving in the US Navy, her darling grandchildren Samantha and Abigail Fleming. Additionally she leaves behind her devoted siblings, Andrew, Helen and Mary Pennington and niece Alexis Pennington.  

Some of Joanne's favorite activities were spending time with her grandchildren, taking trips to Potter County PA, and going to the beach. Joanne had a soft spot for animals especially cats and turtles. 

A Memorial Gathering will be held for family and friends at Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church 230 Christiana Road, New Castle, DE 19720 from 12-2pm on Saturday, April 8. The internment will be held privately with her family. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joanne may be sent to the Christiana Care Kidney Transplant Program, MAP II, Suite 2224, 4735 Ogletown-Stanton Road, Newark, DE 19713.
