Jorge L. Diaz

Rev. Jorge L. Diaz was born on November 5, 1939 in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico. He graduated from Escuela Superior de Quebradillas in Puerto Rico.  In 1975, Jorge married Irene Yepez and after moving from Mexico to Vineland, NJ, he began working in health and human services. He also worked at Newcomb Hospital and Contes Glass before going into full time ministry in 1993 in Wilmington, DE.

During his time in ministry, Rev. Jorge Diaz achieved the rank of Ordained Bishop, the highest rank conferred upon Church of God ministers. He served as the Pastor of the Iglesia de Dios El Peregrino and its predecessor congregations for almost 25 years.

Rev. Diaz is survived by his two sons Rev.  Jorge H. Diaz, his wife Omaira, their children Nathan and Keila; and Luis J. Diaz, his wife Sarah, their children Ezra, Shiloh and Gideon, his two sisters Maria Diaz and Áurea DeJesus and a host of nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his wife of 39 years Irene Diaz, parents Baltazar and Otilia Diaz, brothers Baltazar, Antonio, Jose, and sister Luz.

On May 17, 2017, at the age of 77, God called his faithful servant home.  His infectious smile and laugh will be sorely missed. He taught so many to love and enjoy life to the fullest. His love for the Philadelphia Phillies was only exceeded by his desire to love and serve the Lord with excellence. 

Our father, grandfather, uncle, pastor Jorge will forever be missed, but never forgotten. We love you and we don't say goodbye, but instead See You Soon.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday May 22, 2017 from 7:30pm - 9:00pm, at Church of God - New Life, 61 Christiana Rd. New Castle, DE, where family and friends are invited to visit after 6:00 pm.  Jorge's Final Services will be held on Tuesday May 23, 2017 from 11:00am - 11:30am at Church of God - New Life, where family and friends are invited to visit from 10:00 am - 11:00am.  Interment will follow services on Tuesday May 23, at 12:30pm in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Hwy, New Castle, DE.
