Shirley Ann Ciarlo, 81, of Wilmington, Delaware passed away peacefully on November 28th 2016 with the love and support of her husband and children.  Shirley is now at peace after a 10 year struggle with Alzheimer ’s disease.  Shirley was born in Reading, Pennsylvania in 1935 to parents Beatrice and Asher Moyer.  She graduated Reading High School and Goldey Beacon College before working as an executive secretary for DuPont.  Her career brought her to Wilmington where she met her future husband, Alfonso Ciarlo.  They were married and moved to New York City where Alfonso pursued his medical degree with her support.  They returned to Wilmington where they raised their three children while she managed their successful medical practice.  In her leisure, she looked forward to attending her children’s many school and sporting events, was an avid reader, and enjoyed playing golf.   Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Asher Moyer and mother, Beatrice Moyer.  She is survived by her devoted husband, Alfonso P. Ciarlo along with three children, Gregory Ciarlo and wife Lynn of Hockessin, Delaware; Brian Ciarlo of Atlanta, Georgia; and Sandi Dalton and husband Eric of Wilmington, Delaware.  Her sister Patricia Callamaro and husband John of New Hampshire.  She also adored her five grandchildren, Zachary and Libby Ciarlo and Brady, Reid and Ryan Dalton.  Visitation and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 901 N DuPont  St. in Wilmington on Monday, December 5, 2016.  Visitation will be held from 10:00am- 12:30pm, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30pm.  Burial services will be held privately.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Delaware Hospice in Shirley’s memory.   To send an online condolence please visit www.corletolatinafuneralhome.com
