Aida Shaw Obituary

Aida G.(Obizzi) Shaw of Hockessin, DE, passed away peacefully at home after a short battle with lung cancer on Saturday, July 28, 2018. She was 88. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Edie was born in Wilmington on March 30, 1930, daughter of the late Bruno and Agnes (Necastro) Obizzi. 

Edie graduated from St. Paul's School and Goldey-Beacom College.  She was Vice President and Treasurer of Brandywine Graphics, their family owned business for over 40 years, and she retired in 2008.  She enjoyed traveling the world, with the love of her life her husband Bob. She also loved going to Atlantic City, attending SAGE at St. Mary’s, also spending time at her beach house in Lewis DE, with her children and grandchildren.

Edie was always the life of the party where ever she went. She would light up a room when she walked in. She made so many friends wherever she went, people loved to be around her and enjoyed her conversations and comments. She was a great cook who loved to prepare delicious meals for her family, especially Sunday dinners. Edie was a faithful member of St. Mary the Assumption church for over 50 years.  She was devoted to her family, especially her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren, they were the world to her.

Edie was a devoted wife to her late husband of over 53 years, Robert R. Shaw Sr; a loving mother to her children, Sandy Sneeringer and her husband, Earl, Bob Shaw, Jr. and his wife, Michele, Michele Lennon and her husband, Matthew, Jr. and Craig Shaw and his late wife Wendy, and an adoring grandmother to her grandchildren, Stephanie, Austin, Greg, Bobby, III, Nicole, Jeremy, Vinnie, Nicholas, Amanda, Samantha, Matthew, Craig, Jr., Candice and Michael. She was a Great Grandmother to Xavier, Gianna, Salvatore, and Ava.  She is also survived by her sister Eleanor Goetz; her sister-in-law, Kathleen Degli Obizzi; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Ralph Degli Obizzi and sister Florence DiCostanza.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, on Tuesday July 31, 2018 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow Mass in All Saints Cemetery. Family and friends may call at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, on Monday evening, July 30, 2018 from 5-8pm.
