Dana J. Wollaston

Dana J. Wollaston, P.E., 37, of Falling Waters, WV, passed away suddenly on Thursday, June 13th. Dana was born on November 1, 1981 in Milford, Delaware and grew up in New Castle County, Delaware.

Growing up, Dana spent his summers as a member of the Persimmon Creek swim team in Newark, DE. Dana continued his swimming career while attending A.I. DuPont High School. Dana was a standout swimmer, specializing in breaststroke, and competed in both the Delaware State High School Swimming Championships and the Suburban Swim League Championships. As a senior, Dana was recognized by Persimmon Creek for completing 10 seasons with the team as well as for his many contributions to the A.I. DuPont swim team.

After graduating high school in 2000, Dana started his collegiate studies at Florida Atlantic University and continued his education at Northern Arizona University’s (NAU) civil engineering program in the fall of 2007. A highlight from Dana’s time at NAU was competing in the American Society of Civil Engineer’s National Concrete Canoe Competition where Dana served as Captain of his team, the “Flying Aces.”

After graduating from NAU in the fall of 2011, Dana began his career as an engineer. He worked for over five years at McCormick Taylor, Inc. and was currently employed at Mercado Consultants, Inc. During this time, Dana passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and the Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) exam, earning Dana his license as a Professional Engineer from the State of Maryland.

In his free time, Dana enjoyed outdoor activities especially in warm weather. He enjoyed many sailing trips in the Caribbean and had recently received his scuba certification. Most of all, Dana enjoyed spending time with his family and his dogs Chrissy and Hagrid.

Dana is survived by his: mother, Catherine Fontana Wollaston; father, Michael Wollaston; brother, Brandon Wollaston and Brandon’s girlfriend Erica Hartman; aunts and uncles John Fontana Jr. and Stacy Slocomb, Michael and Dee Fontana, Jane and Jeff Yezdimer, Martin and Elaine Wollaston; cousins John and Jen Fontana, Steven and Clare Fontana, Laura and Chris Whitson, Eric and Christina Yezdimer, and Kevin and Kristen Yezdimer.

Funeral Services for Dana are on Friday, June 28, 2019 at 12 noon at the Corleto Latina Family Center, 807 N. Union Street, Wilmington, DE where calling hours will begin at 10am.
