Michael J. White

Michael J White, of Wilmington DE passed away suddenly July 27, 2018 as a result of a short illness. Michael was born to late William White and T Katherine Porter on July 14, 1957.

He was currently employed a roofer and jack of all trades. He worked for Lane Roofing and Exteriors for most of his life, where he progressed into a skilled roofer for many years. As accompanied by his roofing ability Michael also was proud of his business. His first business was Unicorn Construction and years later he then started Mike's Repair.

His greatest aspiration was to be a good father and grandfather. He was dedicated to helping his children learn trades that would further their futures. He enjoyed fishing with anyone he could find to go with him even his unwilling grand children. He also enjoyed spending time with his family on vacations and especially down the beach. He enjoyed going out on his bass fishing boat when he had her. His greatest prides were his grandchildren who will all miss him deeply.

Michael was a loving kind person who would always be the life of the party. He was always a jokester. Having fun with his grandchildren, always claiming he was better than their parents and always spoiling them any chance he got. He also enjoyed helping his family, he was always fixing up something somewhere for someone.  He also enjoyed spending time with his pit-bull grand dogs Gambit, Mia, and Kira.

His legacy will live on in his kids Michael J White Jr., Alicia White, Courtney White, Benjamin Callahan, and Joshua Callahan.

His step children Amy Haslam (Ricky) and Yvonne Tobin (Sean)

Michael is survived by his siblings Peggy Nichols, Diana Purcell, Connie White, Felicia Lewandowski, Charlene Reese and Charles Duncan.

Left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren, Layla Mauthe, Melaney Callahan, McKinley Callahan, Harley Callahan, Elle Callahan, Felicity Gardner, Kalynn Gallagher, Kaci James, and Collin Strzalka.

Michael is also survived by many nieces, and nephews all of whom he will miss deeply. William J White III, Jessie O’Connor, Jake Gildersleeve, Charles Pyle IV, Dennis Nichols Jr, Brian Nichols, Steven Nichols, Eric Nichols, William Nichols, Sean Blocker, Tiffany Gomez, Samantha Smith, Alana Purcell, Carrie Nelson, Kelly Long, John Josephson III, John White, Jay White, Jayson White, Justin White, Louis Lewandowski, Steven Lewandowski, Nathan Lewandowski, Shannon Cook, Ashley Duncan, and Ryan Duncan.

Michael also is survived by his extended family Audrey Barrett, Jessica, Diane, and Nichole Strzalka, and Jennifer Kern, Kenny and Joseph Yakal and Debbie Callahan.

He was proceeded in death, by his father William J White Sr, his mother T. Katherine Porter, his sister Linda Weaver his brother William J White Jr, and his son Christopher Michael White.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Corleto Latina Funeral Home 808 N. Union St Wilmington, De 19805. The viewing will be Thursday, August 9, 2018 from 6-8pm at the Corleto Latina Family Center, 807 N. Union St.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Friday, August 10, 2018 St. Anthony of Padua Church, 901 N. DuPont Street Wilmington, DE 19805. Burial will follow Mass at Cathedral Cemetery 2400 Lancaster Ave Wilmington, De 19805.
