Nelson Paul Slaughter, age 97, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 16, 2018. Husband of the late Dagmar Slaughter, Nelson is also predeceased by his parents Harry and Florence Slaughter, sons Nelson Paul Slaughter Jr. and David G. Slaughter; brothers James and Leland Slaughter and his sister Thelma Brown. Nelson graduated from the Jon Bassett High School I Smyrna and attended classes at the University of Delaware and Goldey Beacom College where he studied accounting. Nelson retired from the DuPont Co. in 1982 after 37 years as a Computer Operations Supervisor at the Chambers Works Plant in N.J. Nelson was an avid golfer and a 77 year member of the DuPont Country Club. He is survived by his daughter-in-law Shirley, his two grandsons; Joseph Leary (Denise) and Jason Leary and 4 great grandchildren. Nelson was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 1314 Foulk Rd.
