Petra Audiffred

Petra Audiffred, age 82 of Wilmington, DE went peacefully to be with the Lord on May 9, 2019 surrounded by her family.  Petra was born and raised in Humacao, Puerto Rico and came to live in Wilmington, Delaware in 1965.

Petra was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church where she participated in the Legion of the Virgin Mary, the Choir, Cursillo Movement along with many other activities. 

Due to her kidney failure she was no longer able to attend church or participate in the activities, but many parishioners and Eucharistic Ministers would come to visit and bring her the holy communion every Sunday and she would share her faith with everyone and always had something for them to eat or drink before they left.  She made so many friends and was loved by so many. 

Petra is survived by her four daughters, Gladys Audiffred, Maria Rivera and her husband Felix, Maritza Audiffred, Daisy Lopez and her husband Rubin, her sisters, Lydia Silva, Ana Martinez, her brothers, Angel Silva, and Miguel Silva.  She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Petra was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Narciso Audiffred, sons, Wilfredo Audiffred, David Audiffred, John Audiffred, brothers, Simplicio Silva, Marcial Silva, Sr, William Silva, sisters, Luz Maria Cintron, and Maria Magdalena Martinez.

The family also wishes to thank Fresenius Kidney Care Brandywine for the special love and care they provided to Petra for many years and to the Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care at Christiana Hospital.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 11:30 am at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 4th and Jackson Sts., Wilmington.  Calling hours will be from 9:30 am to 11:30 am followed by Interment at Cathedral Cemetery.
