Alan Curtis Stotz, of New Castle, passed away on Friday, September 25th at the age of 60 after a short battle with cancer. He was born on July 31, 1960 in Wilmington DE; the son of Virginia Germano and the late Donald Stotz.
Alan was raised in Penns Grove NJ until his family later moved to Hockessin DE. He attended Delcastle Technical High School for Auto Body, graduating in 1978. For 25 years, Alan worked for several auto body and collision shops and at one point, owned his own auto body business. He was a “jack of all trades” and enjoyed helping his family and friends with their home improvement projects and car repairs.
We will miss Alan’s sense of humor and feisty spirit. He was an old soul that loved watching classic western and comedy shows. He also loved listening to oldies music, especially Dean Martin. Alan enjoyed spending time with his family and loved all animals.
Alan is survived by his daughters, Lauren (David) and Angela and son Jacob. In addition to his mother, he is also survived by his sister, Diane and his nieces Gabriella and Daniella and nephew Anthony. Alan will also be missed by many cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to his care team at the Helen Graham Cancer Center and the Christiana Hospital staff on 6D & 6E.
For the continued safety and health of Alan’s family and friends, funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in Alan’s name to Faithful Friends, 12 Germay Drive, Wilmington, DE 19804 or American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 42040, Oklahoma City, OK 73123. These donations can also be made online at each agency’s website.
