Albert R. Vaccarini  “Rudy” 91 Years Old

Rudy entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 surrounded by family.  He was born on May 25, 1926, in Steubenville, Ohio, the third of four children to Andrew and Marie Vaccarini.  Rudy met the love of his life, Mary Sue Berge, at Riverview Roller Rink in New Jersey, where they spent many hours pursuing their love of skating.  Hand-in-hand they won many competitions.  Rudy was in the flooring business for over 50 years, working side-by-side with his son Jule, and taking much pride in his work.  He was well-known by many throughout the industry.

A kind and gentle soul, Rudy always had a compassionate and giving nature.  He touched the hearts of everyone he encountered.  He never met a stranger.  He loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting and music activities and he was endeared as “Pop Pop” by all.  He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Rudy was pre-deceased by his parents, Andrew and Marie.  His wife, Mary, passed in May of 2014.  He is survived by his four children, Suzanne (John), Jule (Carol), Mark (Terri), and Mary Lynn (Kevin).  He is survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all of whom he cherished dearly.  Rudy is also survived by a brother, James, of New Castle, and two sisters, Gloria Vaccarini of Hockessin, and Virginia Cameron of Atlantic Beach, Florida.

Services will be held at Little Sisters of the Poor in Newark, Delaware from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 29.   Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 30 with interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery, Newark, Delaware.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for contributions be made to The Little Sisters of the Poor, Jeanne Jugan Residence, 185 Salem Church Rd., Newark DE  19713.
