Andrea Myers Obituary

Andrea Lynn Myers, age 42, finished her ultimate race on Sunday, November 20, 2022 when her battle with metastatic breast cancer ended in her home surrounded by loved ones. Born September 4, 1980 in Drexel Hill, PA, she is the daughter of Suzanne Palady and the late Andrew Palady.

She is survived by her mom Suzanne (Ed); siblings Jeffrey (Tiffany), Michael (Sharon), and Christine (Fred); nieces Brandie,Victoria, Michaela, Shannon, Stephanie (Will), Olivia; nephews Brody, Jared, and Aiden, Conner, Zach and Nicholas; great niece Evie, Avery, Eliza and many other family members and friends including Michelle (Michael), Terry (Christine), Matthew Adcock (Austyn and Cameron), Linda (Joe), Eddie (Maria) Robin (David), and Marian (Chris). She is also well loved by her surviving pets who were always by her side and a comfort to her: Sammy, Stewie, Hewey, Momo.

Although born in Pennsylvania, most of her childhood was spent in Salem Woods in Newark, Delaware.  Andi attended schools in the Christina School District and graduated from Christiana High School. After high school, she attended University of Delaware and earned a degree in Agricultural Education.  With her degree in hand, she began teaching high school agriscience at Eastern York.  She continued to teach there until needing to medically retire due to cancer.

Throughout life, Andi had a desire to learn. This included learning volleyball, raising/showing goats, her multiple education degrees (University of Delaware and University of Scranton), becoming a certified animal trainer, starting and maintaining a pet supply and services (pet sitting and training) including a pet bakery called Suzy Q’s, raising poultry for eggs, learning the various software programs for the family plumbing business, multiple design equipment pieces including 3D printers and sublimation equipment, extreme couponing, writing grants for non profit organizations, and learning everything she could about her type of breast cancer including treatment options and research so she could advocate for herself.

She also had a desire to teach and help others. Andi loved being an Agriscience Educator and FFA Advisor at Eastern York High School.  She poured her heart and soul into preparing engaging hands-on lessons in order to help all types of learners achieve.  She was well loved by her students.  Andi enjoyed helping animals through helping owners with pet training.  She was a highly referred to pet trainer.  Andi was active in her community through local volleyball meetup games and being involved in the Calvert Grange.  She also kept an eye out for fun activities to recommend and/or enjoy with family and friends to include zoo trips, seasonal activities, beach trips, sport camps, and arcade adventures.  She was dedicated to fundraising for METAvivor.  She participated in multiple support groups for cancer survivors on Facebook and was an inspiration to many with how she not only battled cancer but lived while battling.

One major way Andi lived while battling was through continuing her physical fitness.  She was running like Forrest Gump!  She ran numerous marathons, half marathons, and 5Ks.  She also encouraged others to join her.  One of her life goals was to participate in the Boston Marathon.  Due to COVID-19, the Boston Marathon had a virtual component in 2021. Sure enough with support from family and friends, Andi ran it!

Andi always was adventurous.  She enjoyed traveling internationally and domestically.  Whether it was in a hotel or her camper, she had a great time and enjoyed new experiences.  She especially enjoyed it when her love of Disney and animals came together during her most recent trip to Disney when she stayed in Animal Kingdom.

Andi was an inspiration to all who met her through her desire to learn, service to others, participation in community, amazing battle with metastatic breast cancer, and her dedication to fundraising for cancer research.

In lieu of flowers please donate to METAvivor on Andi’s behalf.  Her team met their 2021 fundraising goal; however, she is still short of her goal of $15,000.  Here is a link to her fundraising page:  Click Here for Andrea Lynn Myers Fundraising Page
