Anne Rossitto Obituary

Anne (“Anna”) E. Rossitto, age 95, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and dear friends on Thursday, March 30, 2023.

She was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware and was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Julia Episcopo.

Anne graduated from Wilmington High School in 1945. She worked for many years (after high school and then when her children were grown) at Gilpin Van Trump & Montgomery.

She is survived by her loving children, Paula Blakeley (Tom) and Samuel A. Rossitto, Jr. (Patricia Dougherty); five grandchildren, Corina Grier, Ryan Rossitto (Steffi),  Nicole Belasco (Ryan), Adam Blakeley (Renee) and Rachel Rossitto; eight great-grandchildren, Sofia, Nicholas, Julianna, Charlie, Emma, Kiran, Maria and Carter; her sister, Mickey D’Agostino; her brother-in-law, William Stephano; and many nieces and nephews.

Anne was predeceased in death by her husband, Samuel A. Rossitto, Sr., her siblings, Carrie Simeone, Mary Carter, Sue DiCamillo, Florence Novak, Jennie Pedicone, Pasquale (Pat) Episcopo, Jr., Jean Stephano; and grandson-in-law, Michael Grier.

Anne was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. She lived life to the fullest to the very end. She was a master at balancing all that life can offer. She was an integral part of her immediate family for her entire life, even taking care of her great grandchildren until just before her final days. After retirement, she made lifelong friends, hiked and traveled locally and to many parts of the world with the Wilmington Trail Club. When hiking became difficult, she became a member of the Fraim Center for Active Adults for many years where she made lifetime friends and worked out on land and in the pool right up until her last days. No one could believe she was 95 years old. And if this was not enough, she continued to serve others by operating “Anne’s Travels” that sponsored several bus trips per year for seniors, making even more lifetime friends.

Over the years, she worked as a Democratic Poll Judge for local elections, volunteered at Longwood Gardens and the Alfred I. Dupont Hospital for Children, worked at the Woodlawn Library, and was a dedicated parishioner of St. Thomas Church.

Anne was loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her. One manifestation of her love was her famous cookies (especially “pizzelles”) which were lovingly made and shared with others.

A viewing and celebration of life gathering will be held on Monday, April 10, 2023 from 5 pm to 8 pm at the Corleto-Latina Funeral Home, 808 N. Union Street, Wilmington, DE 19805.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday April 11th, at 10:30 am at St. Thomas the Apostle R.C. Church, 301 N.
