Anthony Ruggerio Obituary

ANTHONY NICHOLAS (NICK) RUGGERIO

Nick Ruggerio, age 87, of Hockessin, DE, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021. Nick was predeceased by his beloved wife, Joanne Razze Ruggerio, his brother, John and his sister, Eleanor.

Nick graduated from Salesianum and earned two bachelor degrees in different disciplines from Wilmington College.  He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, aboard the gunship U.S.S. New Jersey.  Nick married Joanne, the love of his life, on April 4, 1959.  It is fitting that the Lord called him home to be reunited with Joanne on what would have been their 62nd wedding anniversary.  He was a police officer with the Delaware River & Bay Authority, and retired as a lieutenant in 1991.  Nick was a lifetime member of Saint Anthony Church in Wilmington, and was proud to be a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, also serving on the Columbus Day Committee.   Nick is survived by his nephew and his wife and daughter, Ritchie, Therese and Olivia Rubini, his niece and her husband, Rosanne and Yale Schalk, his nephew and his wife, Jack and Vicki Corrozzi, and several nieces and nephews.
The family sends gratitude to Seasons Hospice and Nick’s aide, Pam.
