Brenda Carney Obituary

Brenda J. Carney of Bear Delaware passed peacefully at home on Tuesday December 6th surrounded by family. She was predeceased by her parents Wilbur and Marie Fleetwood, both of Georgetown, DE, sisters Carol McHale and Delores Shupe and brother Norvel Fleetwood. Brenda is survived by Michael Carney, her loving husband of almost 60 years. Her four daughters, Denise (Robert) Craft, Kathleen (Brett) Denver, Michele (William) Michalcewiz and Melissa (Mitchell) Carney-Pope; six grandchildren, Christine (Rob) Denton, Michael (Amanda) Craft, Brenden Denver, Camryn Denver, Brynn Michalcewiz and Erin Michalcewiz; four great grandchildren Juliana and Robbie Denton, and Liam and Emma Craft; and her sister Patricia Cuomo and her husband Henry Cuomo.

Brenda had a quick wit and hilarious disposition. She was a devoted wife and caring mother who never shied away from expressing how proud she was of her family. Full of elegance and class with the ability to make any event beautiful, Brenda’s style for fashion and décor was unmatched. She was an accomplished artist and enjoyed family research, creating books on genealogy. The gifts of history and art she left to her family are truly cherished. She will be missed everyday but the memory of how she lived will be held close to our hearts.

Services for Brenda were held privately, per her wishes with only family. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Dementia and Alzheimer’s research.
