Christina Penna Obituary

Christina Marie Penna age 95 of Wilmington Delaware passed away at Foulk Manor South nursing home on Sunday January 17, 2021 from the effects of Covid-19.

Christina was born in Wilmington on November 11, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Leonard and Zoraide (Santini) Parenti. Christina graduated from Wilmington High school in 1944 and was a member of Holy Rosary Church. Christina enjoyed many hobbies throughout her life. She was in a bowling league, liked to play rummy cube, enjoyed attending the ballet, and had a fondness of opera and Italian culture. Ballet dancing was her first love until Carl entered her life. Like most from the greatest generation, Christina worked to support the war effort at home while her future husband flew 35 missions in the European theater during WWII. Chris and Carl enjoyed vacationing at Atlantic City, NJ and spending time with their grandchildren. Over the years Chris worked at Braunstein clothiers and Clare’s fashions. She joined the Brandywine YMCA after the death of her husband. The Y was a second home for Chris as she made many new friends and enjoyed swimming and weekly lunches with them.

In addition to her parents, Christina was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl Penna who she cared for 10 years after his Parkinson's disease diagnosis. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Leonard Parenti. Christina was a loving and devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She is survived by her son, Michael (Linda) Penna. Grandchildren; Russell (Rebecca) English, Kimberly English and Michelle (Peter) Maksymiuk. Great Grandchildren Jenna, Nicole, Gavin, Russell, Eliana, Leo and Henry.

The family would like to thank the Staff and Nurses of Foulk Manor South, for their care and compassion during the last year.
