Daniel A. Conte, suddenly, on November 28, Wishe, his nickname, passed away one day shy of his 74th birthday. Wishe attended St. Thomas the Apostle Grade School, a 1965 graduate of Wilmington High School, Goldey Beacom, and the University of Baltimore with a dual degree in Marketing and Business. Retired from the State of Delaware after 33 years of loyal service. he also was the assigner for referees for the Delaware Softball Assn., a street hockey coach for the New Castle Recreational League and a member of the Delaware National Guard. Wishe held positions at St. Anthony’s Holy Name Society, and the Sons of Italy Prince of Piedmont Lodge. An avid Philadelphia sports fan and was a Survivor super fan and enjoyed his Wildwood summers. Wishe always looked forward to his Tuesday afternoon gathering at the Piedmont Club with his close friends from High School. He was predeceased by his parents, George Sr. & Marie Conte and his brothers George Jr. and Dominic Conte. He is survived by his sister Rita Juliano, and his children Danielle (Anthony) Gentile of Wilmington, Nick (Jennifer) Conte of Jacksonville, FL. and Matthew (Jessica) Conte of Newark. He was a devoted and generous to a fault to his beloved grandchildren Zachary, Reese, Chase, Cole Conte and Anthony Gentile, his ex-wife Arlene Barbizzi, (Joe) and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 7, 2021 from 10am to 12noon at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 9th & Dupont St. where Mass will follow at 12noon. Burial will be private.
