Daryl Blaine Grant

Daryl Blaine Grant, age 65, of Wilmington, Delaware,  passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware.

Daryl was born April 18, 1958 in Winn, Maine, son of Durwood Grant and Mary Louise Brown. He was married on August 24, 1985 in Candia, NH. Daryl had been employed as a construction supervisor but his passion was carpentry. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, freshwater fishing and fishing in the Gulf of Mexico. His other hobbies included fly tying, hiking, woodworking, and cheering on his favorite football teams, the New England Patriots and the Florida State Seminoles. Daryl always had a sense of humor and liked to make people laugh. He was a firm believer in doing the job right, measuring twice, cutting once, and being a good person. He instilled this work ethic on his children and told them to always do their best, because the right powers do see the effort. 

He is preceded in death by his father, Durwood Grant Sr. of Winn, ME, and one brother, Duke Grant of Perryville, MD. Daryl is survived by his three children, Brittany Schaefer and husband Andy of Defuniak Springs, FL, Devon Grant and wife Malia of Clarksville, TN, and Hayden Grant and wife Shonna of Bruce, FL; his mother, Mary Louise Brown of Newark, DE; and four siblings, Valerie Miller of Wilmington, DE, Wade Grant of Pavilion, WY, Ron Brown of Forksville, PA, and Donna Piroso of Hooksett, NH. Daryl was blessed with seven grandchildren. 

The family gathered to celebrate his memory last Saturday and will hold a formal event in July for friends and family.
