Delia Graciela Gadea, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024 at the age of 80 in Wilmington, Delaware. Born in Asunción, Paraguay, she was the cherished wife for 56 years of Dr. Juan Patricio Gadea and a devoted mother to three daughters: Patricia, Claudia, and Natalie.
Delia's life was marked by her deep compassion and unwavering dedication to others. She began her career as a nurse in Paraguay where she provided compassionate care and met her husband Juan. After marrying, the two moved to the U.S. so Juan could help a short-staffed hospital that had requested help from international doctors. She then supported her husband's private medical practice while raising their three daughters. She also opened her home to relatives and South Americans seeking medical help in the U.S.. Throughout her life, she remained a pillar of strength and love for her family, always putting the needs of others before her own.
Delia was a proud mother and grandmother, finding great joy in the lives of her five grandchildren: Maximus Cannon, Wilson Parke, Vivian Parke, Michael Lewis, and Isabel Lewis. Her love and kindness left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
In her later years, Delia resided at the Country House in Wilmington, DE, where she formed lasting connections with caregivers who admired her gentle spirit and bright smile.
Delia's life was a testament to the values of kindness, service, and family. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A private memorial service will be held in her honor. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer's Association in Delia's memory.
Delia is survived by her loving husband, daughters, grandchildren, her sister Lali, and a host of extended family and friends who will carry her memory in their hearts forever.
