Edward E. "Butch" Sosnowski

Edward E. “Butch” Sosnowski, 85, of Wilmington, DE. passed away peacefully on Tuesday July 13, 2021 under the loving care of Seasons Hospice at Wilmington Hospital.  Butch was born January 3, 1936 son of the late Walter F. and Genevieve (Balcerski) Sosnowski. He graduated from Wilmington High School. He was a sergeant in the United States Marine Corp. from 1953-1956. He attended Armstrong School of Flooring and Goldey-Beacom College.  He was a Firefighter for the City of Wilmington for 23 years.  He was a substitute teacher for the NCC Vo-Tech School District.  Butch was an avid fisherman and woodworker. He was a devout Catholic and long time parishioner at St. Elizabeth Church.  He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was predeceased by his daughter Nancy C. Sosnowski, and his sister Christine Sosnowski. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Marie A. (Payne) Sosnowski, his children Maryann Sosnowski Johnston (Chris), Edward M. “Eddie”, Susan M. Norvell (Mike), his grandchildren Paige E. Kafantaris (James), Jack D. Press and Brogan E. Press, his great–granddaughter Alexa Kafantaris, and by his brother, Walter “Sosie” Sosnowski.  Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at St.Thomas the Apostle Church, 301 N. Bancroft Parkway, Wilmington, DE. 19805 on Tuesday July 20, 2021 at 12:30 pm, Burial will follow Mass in the Cathedral Cemetery. Visitation will be held privately.
