Ethel Louise Livingston-Chancy was born in Wilmington, DE on May 25th, 1941 to the late Ernest W. Livingston and Anna Geter Livingston.
Ethel received her early education from the Wilmington Public School District. She graduated from Wilmington High School in 1959. In her earlier life, she was a registered nurse at Memorial Hospital and Wilmington General Hospital. She passed away on February 1, 2021 after a long illness. She was 79 years old and resided at the Brandywine Nursing Home.
Ethel was a very caring and loving person with a ready smile for all who came her way. She was married to Paul Gray, her first husband, and to Rev. Thomas Chancy, her second husband. From these marriages, she had two children, Annette Chancy of Wilmington, DE and a son Thomas Chancy (Debbie) of Reno NV.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents Ernest Wesley Livingston and Anna Geter Livingston, her loving second mother, Willie Deadwyler-Livingston, her brother Kenneth Wesley Livingston, and sister Joyce Patricia Livingston White.
Ethel leaves to cherish her love and memory, in addition to her children, eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and two brothers, Roland E Livingston (Florence) of Oak Harbor, WA, and Ernest V. Livingston, of Wilmington, DE.
The family thanks Brandywine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the comfort and care of their loved one, Ethel L. Chancy. They also thank Ethel's home church Ezion-Mt. Carmel UMC for their spiritual support, all the family and friends for their gifts of prayer, cards, and calls, during this time.
