Gerald (Jerry) Turner, Jr., age 54, of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, October 6, 2023 at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Gerald was born November 16, 1968 in Wilmington, Delaware and lived in Wilmington for most of his life. A graduate of St. Elizabeth High School, Jerry went on to work for Garrett, Miller & Co. on Germay Drive. Many years later, when the ownership decided to change over to a Bassett Furniture franchise, Jerry continued to work with the company in their warehouse on Route 13. He advanced to Warehouse Manager before the ownership sold the franchise location to the franchisor, who decided to close the Delaware warehouse and ship all furniture from its Baltimore warehouse. After the warehouse closed, he had short stints with DART in Wilmington and BDI in Newark. Upon his “retirement” he concentrated on being a dad and homemaker.
He met his wife in 1998 and finally married her on November 26, 2004 in Las Vegas, NV. His 2 sons were born in 2005 and 2009 respectively.
Watching sports, going to live music concerts, and spending time with friends and family were his favorite things to do.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Dery, and two sons, Connor Turner (17) and Nicholas Turner (14) of Wilmington, DE; his father, Gerald Turner, Sr. of Hockessin, DE; and five siblings, Patti Panariello of Hockessin, DE, Deborah Randolph of Winter Garden, FL, Rose Turner of Bear, DE, John Turner of Wilmington, DE, and Chris Turner of Clayton, DE. He is preceded in death by his mother, Rose Marie Turner.
