Gregoria Rodriguez-Ortiz Obituary

Gregoria Rodriguez Ortiz, age 85, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2019. She was born March 25, 1934 in San Isabelle, Puerto Rico to (enter parents’ name). She married her longtime friend and love, Vincent Rodriguez who preceded her in death in. Gregoria attended St. Paul’s Catholic Church under the direction of Father Rodolfo Ramon Cabrera.
Gregoria loved to love on people. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and playing Bingo. She also shared her love with her dogs, Pepe and (name of other dog). Gregoria was known for her infectious smile and her kind and compassionate spirit. Gregoria was a wonderful woman that was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished. She was an amazing wife, mom, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and a maker of “holiday rice” like no other could be.
For many years, Gregoria worked as a school closing guards for Wilmington Public Schools. It suited her loving heart for children. After leaving her position as school crossing guard, Georgia went to work at B.F. Rich Glass Company until retirement.
Her life was a living example of the Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32- “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you”
If you knew Gregoria, then you know she couldn’t stay still too long. She would be home talking to you on her house phone, and ten minutes from hanging up with her, you go to her house and she is gone. She done grabbed her cane that fast and went walking the streets of the Westside to see her friends. Her children would tell her always to let them know when she leaves the house and where she is going. Gregoria ‘s response would be, “I am grown, I am your mother!”. The children would reply, “yes mom we know that, but we be worried when we can’t find you”. And we all know that went in one ear and out the other with Gregoria because she was determined that she was not sitting in the house, especially if it was nice outside.
Gregoria is preceded in death by her parents (name of parents), husband Vincent Rodriguez Sr, son Vincent Rodriguez Jr., sister Maria Cruz and brothers (names of brothers).
Gregoria is survived by sons Victor Rodriguez (name of Victor’s wife), Luis deJesus (Kim) and Tomas Torres; daughter Marta Oppenheimer (Louie); many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. All of those she loved and touched deeply
