Harold W. Hendrickson, Jr, “Sonny”, peacefully passed at the age of 69 on Tuesday, April 27th, surrounded by family at Christiana Hospital. Harold was born on July 3, 1951 in Wilmington. He is preceded in death by his parents Harold Hendrickson and Philomena Paolino.
A lifelong Wilmington resident, he went to St. Anthony of Padua elementary school, was proud graduate of Salesianum and attended St. Edward’s University in Austin, TX. He worked in the banking industry for many years.
Sonny will most be remembered for his incredible sense of humor and unwavering devotion to his children. He loved following all Philadelphia sports teams, however, “my Phillies” were foremost. He deeply cherished the Delaware beaches, and instilled the sentiment upon his children. His passion above all other hobbies like running and sailing, was carpentry. Sonny was a talented craftsman, but had unmistakable pride and great fulfillment of simple woodwork.
A loving father and grandfather, he is survived by his four children; Anne Clayton (Michael), James Hendrickson (Jennifer), Anthony Hendrickson, Kathryn Rzucidlo (Matthew), eight grandchildren, sister Frances Kijak (John) and extended family members.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday May 3rd at 11:00am at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 9th and DuPont Sts., Wilmington. Friends and family are invited to arrive after 10:30am to pay their respects. Please be responsible, and keep all Social Distance Guidelines in mind when approaching friends, entering, and exiting the church. Interment will be held privately.
