Jeffrey Hayes

Jeffrey F. Hayes, 59, of Wilmington DE, passed away unexpectedly on February 12, 2018. He was born in Somers Point, New Jersey, graduated from Absegami High School in 1976 and attended Glassboro College.  Jeff worked for Building Systems & Services as a service manager for many years. He dedicated his life to the church and became a pastor of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in MD. He was a compassionate leader and cherished helping others in honoring their faith.  Jeff was smart, always with a crossword puzzle in hand and quick with a correct response while watching Jeopardy. He loved soaking up the sun with his two yorkies, listening to Grateful Dead and cheering on the Green Bay Packers; but more than anything, he loved his family and friends. If you knew Jeff, you mattered.  Jeff is survived by his wife Karen Hayes (Minio), his children Jennifer and Victoria (Hayes), Vince, Michelle and Damian (Spitelli), his beloved parents Paul and Fran Bell, sister Charlene, Mark and nephews Dylan and Cole (Gabriel). He is predeceased by his father Harry Hayes and grandparents Paul Sr. and Florence Bell.  Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church 1700 Limestone Rd. Wilmington, 19804 at 3pm where calling hours begin at 1:30pm.  In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Jeff’s church, Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 1072 Ebenezer Church Rd., Rising Sun, MD 21911.
