John Michael Koronik, age 57, of Newark, Delaware passed away suddenly on Sunday, January 17, 2021. Born in Wilmington, Delaware on November 22, 1963, John was the son of the late Michael and Josephine (Drabkowski) Koronik. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Amanda Koronik, whom he affectionately referred to as munchkin. He was also predeceased by his sisters—Phyllis Capriotti and Victoria Bennett. John is survived by his sister, Mary Jayne Casper; Son, John Koronik, Jr.; Grandchildren (by Amanda), Elijah Mettler and Jeremiah Mude.
As a young man, John served as an altar boy for St. Hedwigs and St. Stanislaus. He graduated from Salesianum High School in 1982 and pursued a career as an automotive mechanic, ultimately obtaining a CDL license and employed by Johnson Fitness (formerly Leisure Fitness). His passions included riding his motorcycle with friends, bodybuilding, wrestling, and most recently armored combat. John was a kindred spirit, beloved by many. Throughout the years, he was a member of Independent Wrestling, Liberty All-Star Wrestling, and Armored Combat League. By his myriad of friends within his clubs, John was referred to as Woozy, Ruff Rider, Johnny Fit, and Ref John. To his family, he was a cherished son, brother, father, uncle, grandfather, Godfather, nephew, and cousin—with his most special title, Dad and Pop Pop. John treasured his relationships with his family and friends, enjoyed every moment of quality time spent with them, and lived his life to the fullest—the way he wanted. Visitation has been held privately for immediate family.
