Kenneth A. Panella, aged 68, of Wilmington DE passed away unexpectedly in his home on January 7, 2024. He is reunited in heaven with his parents, Ben and Mary Panella, and his brother Jerry Panella. He grew up on 9th street in Wilmington and was a lifelong member of St. Anthony of Padua parish. He went to St. Anthony’s grade school, St. Marks high school, and graduated from the university of Delaware. He had an esteemed career in the automotive industry and forged lifelong friendships over the years. He was an active referee in the high school and collegiate level for over 30 years. He had so many close wonderful friends from every part of his life and they all knew his truest self. He was one of the most loyal, understanding, kind, and hilarious people to ever live. He also enjoyed playing bocci ball, and recently got 2nd place in tournaments at Piedmont and St. Anthony’s. He took so much pride in his home and always kept the door open for anyone who wanted to stop by. His last bottles of his famous lemoncello will be cherished.
He was a devoted husband to his wife Kelly for 40 years. He showed the world what it meant to stand by your spouse no matter what over the last 8 years. Nothing was more important to him than family, and he was his children’s biggest admirer. He loved cooking and having us all around the table for dinner. He loved sitting on their deck with his wife enjoying their coffee or lemoncello together. He was happiest spending time with his wife, kids, grandkids, and grand puppy.
He is survived by his wife Kelly, his children Kelsy (husband Zach), Krista (husband Ryan), Kenny (girlfriend MaryBeth), and Karlina (fiancé Spencer), his grandchildren Blair and Rhys, and his granddog Elle; his sister Debbie (husband Mike); his Gravino & Panella in-laws, and his numerous nieces and nephews. We will miss him more than words can describe, but vow to keep his memory alive with his recipes, stories, and unconditional love for each other.
A Mass of Christian Burial Will be celebrated on Tuesday January 16th, 2024 at 12 Noon in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 9th and Dupont Sts, Wilmington. Where family and friends are invited to a visitation starting at 10:00am. Interment will be held privately and at the convenience of the Ken’s Family.
