Kim A Gallagher, of Bear, Delaware passed away peacefully on February 7, 2025, surrounded by the love and support of her starting five. Originally of Wilmington, Kim was born on March 9, 1956, to the late Hope (Dallett) & Charles T. Gallaher, Jr. She was the 6th of 8 children.
Kim held many positions in life, her fondest and most cherished was Mom and Mimi. No matter how the ball bounced during her game of life, being “Mom” was always her shining moment. Kim attended St. Ann’s Grade School and Padua Academy high school in Wilmington, DE. It was during her time at Padua that her passion, love, and skill for Basketball blossomed. During these years, while playing for Brother Mike, she became a leader on and off the basketball court. Sadly, the clock ran out on her time at Padua Academy. During Kim’s senior year, her family relocated to Bradenton Florida, where she reluctantly graduated from Manatee High School. The sisterhood and friendships that began at Padua lasted her entire lifetime. Drawn by the bonds of those friendships, she proudly attended her 50th high school reunion in November of 2024. After High School Kim entered the college ranks, returning to her hometown of Wilmington, DE to complete her associate’s degree from Brandywine College (now Widener). After college Kim declared for the professional world, which would begin a career spanning the next 4 decades. She accepted an office management position from Dr. Barry Klassman, DDS. She quickly became a captain of that team and would continue as a member of the Klassman team for 42 years.
Kim had a wide range of interests, but nothing she loved more than watching NCAA March Madness and filling out multiple brackets. Kim’s cooking skills were worthy of a James Beard award. She was the best cook and loved to make new recipes. Growing up in a large family, her siblings were an important part of her life. She cherished time spent at Gallagher family reunions and any chance she had to visit her siblings. Kim loved spending time at the beach and pool, with her children and grandchildren. She taught her grandchildren many card games, that she enjoyed with her siblings. Kim loved bowling and slot machines. She was an avid Trump supporter; she is proud to Make America Great Again.
She is survived by her son, Salvatore Latina and his wife Amanda, and her daughter Jill Beth Latina, her grandchildren, Gianna and Salvatore “Bear” Latina, her former spouse and father of her children, Anthony Latina and former spouse Kevin Ziegler. She is survived by her brothers, Tom Gallagher, and his wife Ana Gallagher of Deerfield Beach, Florida, Doug Gallagher and his wife Thi’Nga of Vero Beach, Florida, Dean Gallagher, of Madison, Florida. Kim is survived by her beloved sisters Chris, and her husband Tom Gingrich of Littleton, Co, and Tami and her husband, Tony Samper of Tallahassee, Florida, her sister-in-law Christine, her nieces and nephews John Crowley (Kay), Jill Creswell, Steve Gallagher, Michael Gallagher, Andrew Gallagher, Brian Gallagher, Anthony Samper, Olivia Samper and Charlie Gallagher and her most treasured friend, Dianna Minella.
In addition to her parents, Kim was predeceased by her two brothers, Dennis Gallagher (1974) and Kevin (2001).
During the last few days of Kim’s life, she was cared for by the most loving and compassionate staff of the Surgical Critical Care Complex at ChristianaCare. Kim's family would like to extend their sincerest and most heartfelt gratitude to her ICU team, specifically Dr. Lile, Dr. Haraczy, Bre, Brittany and Melissa. They are deeply grateful for the impeccable care she received.
