Louis D. Capano was born in Wilmington, on April 26, 1943, to proud parents Messina & Vincent R. Capano. He was a graduate of the Electric Class at H. Fletcher Brown Vocational School in 1962. Lou spent 30 years working with the IBEW along with many years on his own in business. “Louie” was known at the IBEW hall for being a hard-working friend for many decades.
Louis was a dedicated father to Mark (deceased), Michael, Christopher and Daniel Capano. “Pop” taught the boys to work hard and play harder. His boys knew to let life be packed with only the things needed as he was a stern father that promoted a simple honest lifestyle.
Later in life Lou met and married his true love, Joan Louise Capano (Wallace). They enjoyed their later years travelling the Caribbean and making a beautiful home in Milton for their retirement. Many wonderful family memories ensued at the Capano compound with his beloved wine room. “Louie” was proud when the Capano family wine placed 2nd in the 2007 DaVinci Vendemmia Celebration wine tasting contest.
Louis is survived by his sons Michael, Christopher, and Daniel Capano. He is also survived by his stepchildren Scott Wallace (Nora), Michael Wallace, David Wallace (Wendy) and his only daughter Christy Wallace (Wayne Marston). His siblings Rose DiPatre-Heckler (Tony), Donnie DiPatre (Dana), Lorraine DiPatre-DiSantis (John) and Kristine Duricek (Mark) will all miss him terribly. Lou leaves behind many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Each of them held a special place in his heart and he will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Louis was predeceased by his beloved wife Joan, his father Vincent and step-mother Mary, his mother Messina, his brother Vincent, and his son Mark Capano.
Special thanks to all who helped in his time of need including Chantel Gibson and his son Dan who cared for him selflessly.
Services will be held from 11:00-1:00 pm at Corleto Latina Family Center, 807 N. Union St. 19805 with a reception following at the IBEW on Basin Road for friends and family to celebrate this great man’s life.
