A lifelong resident of Wilmington Delaware, Lucille (Garyantes) Harley at 92 died peacefully on June 18, 2026.
Lucille was a 1951 graduate of P.S. DuPont High School. After graduation she spent 35 years as a medical secretary. She started her career at the Delaware Hospital (now Christiana Hospital, Wilmington). In 1956 she began her career with Ophthalmology Associates where she worked for 30 years, retiring in 1987.
Lucille spent her free time volunteering for Delaware Hospice for 30 years, Saint Anthony’s Senior Center, and the Sisters of Saint Francis of Philadelphia in Aston PA. She also spent endless hours with family. She was always taking her mother, aunts, nephews and cousins on wild adventures, especially if it involved the Jersey Shore! Aunt Cille, as she was affectionately known by her nephews and cousins, adored Cape May.
In addition to her parents Joseph and Louise Garyantes, she was predeceased by her beloved husband Robinson Harley, MD; her brother Joe Garyantes and sister-in-law Patsy; as well as two special aunts, Mary DiLorenzo and Josie McEnery. She is survived by two nephews Mark Garyantes and his wife Maureen and their three children, Patrick, Jaclyn (Will), and Vincent; Michael Garyantes and his wife Angie and their two children Anna and Laura; and many cousins all of whom she loved dearly.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday July 1st at 10:30am at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 2013 Gilpin Ave., Wilmington, DE 19806. Interment will follow Mass in Cathedral Cemetery.
