Maria de Lourdes Alvarez Cruz

Maria De Lourdes Alvarez Cruz was born on July 11, 1969, in Mexico City to Enrique Alvarez
and Obdulia Cruz. From a young age, she was known for her strength, compassion, and deep
love for her family.
Maria was the proud mother of four children and a devoted grandmother to three beautiful
granddaughters. She was a hardworking and dedicated woman who rarely, if ever, took a break
for herself. She held high expectations for her children, always pushing them to grow with love
and resilience.
“You loved us until your very last breath, and your legacy of love will live on in us for all
eternity. You fought like a true warrior until the end, and though your departure breaks our
hearts, we find comfort in knowing you no longer suffer from this terrible illness. You always
gave the very best of yourself to others, even in your final days. Your fight will not be in vain,
and we will remember you forever — my invincible warrior.”
Maria was preceded in death by her beloved father, Enrique Alvarez.
She is survived by her loving mother, Obdulia Cruz, and her four siblings, who will forever
cherish her memory.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 6th, 2025, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19803. The viewing will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. followed by a Mass at 1:00 p.m., and then a procession to the cemetery.

Maria De Lourdes Alvarez Cruz nació el 11 de julio de 1969 en la Ciudad de México, hija de
Enrique Alvarez y Obdulia Cruz. Desde pequeña se destacó por su fortaleza, compasión y
profundo amor por su familia.
Maria fue madre de cuatro hijos y abuela de tres hermosas niñas. Fue una mujer trabajadora,
dedicada y comprometida, que casi nunca se tomaba un descanso. Siempre tuvo altas
expectativas para sus hijos, guiándolos con amor y firmeza.
“Nos amaste hasta tu último aliento y tu legado de amor perdurará en nosotros para toda la
eternidad. Luchaste como toda una guerrera hasta el final y aunque duele en el alma tu partida,
nos reconforta saber que ya no padeces más esta terrible enfermedad. Siempre diste todo lo
mejor de ti para los demás hasta en los últimos días. Tu lucha no será en vano y por siempre te
recordaremos — mi guerrera invencible.”
Le precede en muerte su querido padre, Enrique Alvarez.
Le sobreviven su madre, Obdulia Cruz, y sus cuatro hermanos, quienes siempre llevarán su
recuerdo en el corazón.
El servicio fúnebre se llevará a cabo el miércoles 6 de agosto de 2025. La visita será de 11:00
a.m. a 1:00 p.m., seguida por la misa a la 1:00 p.m., y posteriormente, el sepelio en el
cementerio.
