María Teresa Carrasquilo-Vazquez, age 84, of New Castle, Delaware, residing in West Palm Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on October 15, 1940, in Humacao, Puerto Rico, lived a life marked by kindness, resilience, and unwavering love for family and friends. She dedicated her career to Christiana Hospital, and was known for her welcoming and warm personality, her contagious smile that brightened up the room, her great cooking, and her dedication and kindness to everyone around her.
María Teresa (Tere) was a devoted spouse. mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and great friend, and is survived by her daughters, Aitza Carrasquillo, Lisa Ann Vélez, her partner of 22 years, Ravier Rodríguez, step children Elba (Joel) Negrón, her grandchildren, Carlos Vélez, Angélica Medina, Melanie Vélez, Emily (Timothy) Haskins, Joel Negrón, Jr, Erika Negrón, and greatgrandchildren, Jaelynn Carrasquillo, Hassan El-Abbadi, Jr., brother and sisters, César (Linda) Vázquez, Isabel Cristina Vázquez, Gloria M. (Rubén) Vázquez Rodríguez, and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She will be deeply missed by all who know her.
She was a parishioner of Saint Paul Church for more than 30 years. She belonged to and volunteered to the Marriage Encounter Group, Liturgy Group, Cursillista and Jornalista Groups.
She was pre-deceased by her husband Jesús M. Carrasquillo, her son Jesús M. Carrasquillo, Jr, her grandson Orlando Carrasquillo, her parents Delfin Vázquez and Juana Rodríguez, her brothers and sisters, Rafael (Isabel) Vázquez, Delia (Domingo) Vázquez, Carlos Vázquez, and José Vázquez, memorial service will be held on September 8, 2025 at Saint Paul Catholic Church, 4th and Jackson Streets, Wilmington, Delaware. Visitation starts at 11:30am, followed by mass at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Saint Paul Catholic Church, Maintenance Fund.
