Thomas John Bonk
August 24, 1954 – January 9, 2025
Thomas John Bonk, 70, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at his home in Townsend, DE.
Tom was born and raised in the Cleveland Heights neighborhood of Wilmington, DE, alongside his brother Robert J. Bonk and sister Patricia A. Spence. He attended St. Elizabeth’s School, where he developed his strong work ethic.
A hardworking and dedicated entrepreneur, Tom built and nurtured his own construction company, Silverhill Construction, which continues to thrive under the leadership of his son, Michael Bonk. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Tom cherished time with his family—attending his children’s sporting events, enjoying summers in Rehoboth and Dewey Beach, and crabbing along the Wye River.
Tom is survived by his three children: Thomas John Bonk II (Sue), Michael John Bonk (Lauren), and Alyssa Nicole Bonk; as well as his three beloved grandchildren: Thomas Michael Bonk, Michael John Bonk II, and Cooper Ozzie Bonk.
He will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
Family and Friends may call at the Corleto Latina Family Center, (which Tom built), at 807 N. Union Street, Wilmington, DE. 19805, on Wednesday, January 22 from 5 to 7pm.
A prayer Service will start at 6:30pm. Burial will be private in Cathedral Cemetery
