Thomas Patrick Vreken

Thomas (Tom/Tommy) Patrick Vreken passed away unexpectedly on July 12, 2023.  He was only 52 years old.  His family is deeply saddened by his sudden death.  Tom was born on September 14, 1970.

Tom is survived by his soulmate and domestic partner, Paula Marie Folk, his children who meant the world to him, his son Thomas (TomTom) Patrick Vreken II and his wife Allyson, and his daughter, Kristen Marie Vreken, the light of his life.  Tom was ecstatic when he was told by his son that he would be a grandpa to his soon to be born granddaughter, Autumn.

Forever remembered by his siblings, brother Kevin Vreken and his wife Theresa, sister Donna Cherry and her husband Bobby, and brother John Vreken.  Additionally, he will be missed by his nieces Brooke Harris (Cory), Lauren Shilling (Hunter), Rebekah Cherry, and Samantha Cherry, and his great nephew Cameron.  Lastly, Tom had many, many extended family and friends who will greatly miss his presence.

Tom was proceeded in death by his parents, Erwin and Marilyn Vreken and his niece, Jessica Vreken.

Tom was born in Astoria, Queens, New York City, New York and became a lifelong resident of New Castle, Delaware when he was 3.  Tom was a Roofing Technician with Bafundo & Associates for over 9 years.

Tom was a member of the Terrace Athletic Club since 1995, the Police, Fire, Rod & Gun Club and the St. Anthony’s Club, all located in New Castle, Delaware.  Tom enjoyed shooting darts, shooting pool, shooting shuffleboard and golf.   He was passionate about music, mainly, rock and heavy metal and attended hundreds of live music concerts.  Tom was a die-hard San Francisco 49ers fan and a Nascar fan, having attended several Nascar races.

Tom was a fun spirited soul and a goofball, always laughing, always smiling, cracking jokes or making funny faces and sounds, anything to make people laugh.  Tom loved everyone, talked to everyone, he never met a stranger he didn’t like, they instantly became a friend and if lucky, he called you family, and family meant everything to Tom.

A celebration of his life will be held at the Police, Fire, Rod & Gun Club, 100 Linstone Avenue, New Castle, Delaware on July 29, 2023, from 1:00 P.M to 5 P.M.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate Tom’s life.
