Tim Braucht Sr. from Lewes, DE, formerly of Newark, Delaware passed away on September 27, 2022.
Tim graduated from HC Conrad High School in 1970. Following graduation, he served in the Vietnam War as a Helicopter Crew Chief. Following his service, he got his A&P Mechanic’s License and spent 42 years working in Aviation. He worked with Atlantic Aviation, Summit Aviation, but spent the majority of his career with Boeing Helicopters where he worked his way to Crew Chief & Flight Test Mechanic on both the Chinook and V22 Osprey Helicopters. He took pride in his work and as he did in life, working with the highest integrity and honor. In his Flight Test role, the new or remanufactured aircraft could have potential flight safety issues arise, especially when the buck stops at the end of Flight Test. If there were any questions about air worthiness or safety on the flight line, the pilots, flight crews and Senior Management could rely on Tim, as ‘Mr. Safety’, to provide his skilled critical and unvarnished assessment to operate or ground an aircraft.
Tim was also an avid car enthusiast and enjoyed spending time in this hobby with his son. He enjoyed working on, and racing his many sports cars throughout the years. But it was his family where he spent most of his time. His world revolved around his wife and children. There was not an event or occasion that he missed. He was known for his witty humor and funny nicknames he gave to those he loved. He always had the perfect one liner for any occasion that was sure to make you laugh.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Barbara (Trincia), his daughter Erin Lane (Chris), and his son Tim Jr. (Diannah) who all feel lost without him. He also had 4 beautiful grandchildren, Evan and Colin Lane, Stella and Sadie Braucht who unfortunately have to grow up only hearing stories of how wonderful their grandfather was. He is also survived by his brother in laws, Larry Trincia and Dave Cox, his 3 sisters Debbie Widdoes, Deidre Cox, Leta Swanson along with other numerous extended family and friends.
The family will honor his life with a viewing on Thursday, October 13, 2022 from 10:00 – 11:30 am followed by a service at 11:30 at Corleto Latina Funeral Home in Wilmington, DE. Military services will be conducted at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Bear at 1:00 pm.
