Wayne E. Dunlap

Wayne Elwyn Dunlap, a longtime resident of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025.

A proud graduate of P.S. Dupont High School, Wayne served his country in the Delaware National Guard. He dedicated the majority of his professional career to Dupont, remaining with the company through its transitions to Sterling and later AGFA.

Wayne married the love of his life, Gale Marie Chickadel, also a native of Wilmington. They began their family in Delaware before moving to Annapolis, Maryland, for a time. They later returned to Wilmington, where they raised their three sons.

Wayne was a man of many passions. He was an avid music fan, had a keen interest in automobiles, and loved being on the water, enjoying boating and yachting. Above all, he cherished traveling and seeing new places with his wife, Gale.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Gale Marie; his brothers, Ellis and Bruce; and his daughters-in-law, Regina and Debbie.

His loving survivors carry on Wayne’s memory: his sons, Kevin, William, and Sean; his cherished grandsons, Nathan and Logan; and his faithful canine companion, Bixbie.

A Visitation and Service will be held for Wayne on Wednesday, October 22, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Corleto-Latina Family Center, 807 North Union Street, Wilmington, DE. Interment will follow the service in Silverbrook Cemetery.
