Yolanda, age 88, passed away after a long illness.Yolanda was born in Vallata, Italy and immigrated to the United States in 1955 to the Little Italy section of Wilmington. With a strong support system of family which meant everything to Yolanda, she found employment at Mrs. Robino's Restaurant "retiring" as the head cook after 54 years of dedicated service. Never one to be idle, Yolanda continued to volunteer in the cafeterias at St. Anthony of Padua Grade School and Padua Academy, where she was affectionately called by students and staff as Mrs.C. The Italian Festival was another passion of Yolanda from preparation to serving thousands of patrons, who enjoyed her broccoli rabe and porkette sandwiches. She was a fixture in the feast day parade, helping guide the St. Gabriel statue well into her 80's. Yolanda was awarded the St. Anthony Community Builder Award in 2017 for service to the parish. Always the life of every party, Yolanda was no stranger when it came to singing and dancing, often taking the stage at the Festival and singing her favorite Italian song. Yolanda was predeceased by her parents (Michael and Vincenza Cautillo), her beloved husband (Vito), and her brother (Pasquale) and her sister (Carmalina).
She is survived by her daughter Lina Plastek (Stan), son Michael, 5 grandchildren: Jayne Hughes ( Steve ), Andrew, Mary Beth Tees ( Andrew), Michael Jr., and Gabriel, and her great granddaughter, Caydence. She is also survived by her brothers Emilio (Pina) and Benito ( Jane ) and countless nieces and nephews. The family is ever grateful for the excellent care the staff of Foulk Manor North provided during her time there.
