Dear Joanna, Drew, Kathleen,
I am so sorry for your loss. I will miss him stopping by my house in Lewes beach and our conversations about the town. He was a great guy. He was so proud of his children and loved all of you very much.

I would just like to say...there aren't many teachers that you remember with a whole heart, but this guy was one. He was such a wonderful teacher and I can even say a friend. We liked him so much, we even invited him to our parties, of course he didn't come. He was the teacher we wanted to host at our proms ( he did attend) and the one we could always depend on to help with all the high school drama. You will be sadly missed Mr. Volturo!

Joanna, Andrew and Kathleen,
Phil was my homeroom teacher during my Jr. and Sr. years at AGHS. He remained my friend for the rest of his life and I will miss him. We spent many a night together discussing politics, life and family but most of all we laughed. I will never forget his laugh. When Jane and I were married we were proud to have Phil stand with us in our wedding party. I was fortunate enough to have lunch with Phil a couple of months back and while already engaged in his physical battle we had a great time. The voice was a little softer and the words came slower but "the world according to Volturo" still rang clear. We talked a lot about family that day and how important that was to him. He was very proud of all of you and I hope the thought of how much others cared for him gives you some comfort.
Rest easy old friend, you will be missed.

Mr. Volturo was my all time favorite teacher, hands down. I remember all the fun we had in his class, and somehow he was my homeroom teacher for two years!! I considered history to be my least favorite subject but Mr. Volturo always made it entertaining. I am so glad we got to communicate a few years ago and I was able to tell him how much he meant to me and countless friends of mine.
My condolences to his family and everyone who loved him.

I'm sure you have heard this from many of his students over the years, but Mr Volturo was my all time favorite teacher in high school. He had an approachability to him that made everyone feel at ease plus he was just so fun loving. Who knew you could make guns and butter funny and interesting, but he pulled it off. I'm so glad I stopped by AGHS when I was in town and got to see him right before he retired. When I graduated high school (1977) I gave him a gift for being the best teacher ever ( a pair of false chattering teeth!) I hope he understood his great legacy and how many lives he touched. Thank you for sharing him with us.

I was fortunate to have Mr. Volturo as a teacher. I appreciated his sense of of humor, his enthusiasm for teaching, and the kindness and respect he showed to us as students. He was fun and zippy and actually made Economics interesting and enjoyable. Godspeed, Mr. Volturo, and thank you. My condolences to the Volturo family.
